Redskins add Kyle O’Donnell, Dante Barnes to roster

The Redskins took the practice field on Friday with at least 61 players under contract, but we suspected there might be a few more. Here’s one more name to add to the list: The team has brought in former Liberty linebacker Kyle O’Donnell, according to the York Daily Record.

O’Donnell is an undrafted free agent who was listed at 6 feet 2 and 237 pounds. He led Liberty in tackles as a senior in 2010 with 75 — 12 for loss — plus three sacks, four forced fumbles and an interception.

“We are extremely proud of him. He is a young man that deserves it,” his high school coach told the York Daily Record. “He has worked hard for it. It’s [only] surprising because few people get it. Just getting that chance is awesome.”

The Redskins also added defensive back Dante Barnes from Norfolk State, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Barnes is listed at 6-2 and 190 pounds. Fellow undrafted rookie Kevin Gidrey was a high school teammate of Barnes’s in Virginia Beach and first mentioned his arrival Thursday night on Twitter.
