In addition to safety LaRon Landry, the Redskins have placed running back Ryan Torain on the inactive list for today’s game against the New England Patriots.
The Redskins other inactives today are: wide receiver Terrence Austin linebacker Markus White, offensive lineman Erik Cook, nose tackle Chris Baker and defensive end Kentwan Balmer.
Torain was active for each of the past two games but didn’t play a single snap. Following a 135-yard performance in his season debut at St. Louis on Oct. 2, Torain failed to top 25 yards rushing in any other game this season.
With Fred Davis serving a four-game suspension, the Redskins will go with two tight ends: Logan Paulsen and Dominique Byrd, who was re-signed last week and could see his first snap in burgundy and gold today. Mike Sellers also could play at the position.
The team’s decision to keep Cook inactive means they don’t have a natural center to back up Will Montgomery. Tyler Polumbus is the lone interior reserve, though guard Chris Chester is able to play center, too.
Landry is still nursing a groin injury and didn’t practice last week.
The Patriots’ inactives are: defensive lineman Gerard Warren, tackle Sebastian Vollmer, quarterback Ryan Mallett, safety Patrick Chung, offensive lineman Dan Connolly, linebacker Brandon Spikes and running back Shane Vereen.
