The Washington Redskins were without starting strong safety LaRon Landry for a second straight day of practice, and the same five players who were limited on Wednesday were again limited on Thursday, according to the team’s injury report.

Landry, who has said he will not play in the season opener against the New York Giants on Sunday, sat with a slowly-healing strained right hamstring.

Limited in practice were free safety Oshiomogho Atogwe (hamstring), return man Brandon Banks (knee), tight end Chris Cooley (knee), receiver Donte Stallworth (shoulder) and running back Ryan Torain (hand).

Coach Mike Shanahan said Cooley continues to make progress each day, but a determination on his availability for Sunday won’t be made until Saturday.

On the Giants’ side, defensive end Justin Tuck did not practice while nursing a neck injury. Tuck, who in the last four games against the Redskins has recorded 3.5 sacks and forced three fumbles, wasn’t on Wednesday’s injury report. Already ruled out for Thursday’s game are cornerback Prince Amukamara (foot), linebacker Jonathan Goff (knee) and defensive end Osi Umenyiora (knee).
