Redskins sign linebacker Jonathan Goff

The Washington Redskins have signed three-year veteran linebacker Jonathan Goff, the team announced Monday afternoon.

Drafted in the fifth round of the 2008 by the New York Giants, the Vanderbilt product is expected to compete with Lorenzo Alexander, Bryan Kehl and rookie Keenan Robinson for the backup inside linebacker position.

The 6-foot-2, 241-pound Goff missed all of last season with a torn ACL. In 2010, he started all 16 games for the Giants and recorded 52 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

From 2008 to 2009, Goff played in a combined 21 games, starting five of them.
