Something for the weekend: Cajun cooking and cocktails

The first is Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. when Executive Chef Thomas Schoborg hosts the restaurant’s first White Linen Night, which celebrates a longstanding New Orleans cuisine-and-crafts street fair. The event costs $25 and guests are encouraged to wear white linens to the two hour program of cooking demonstrations and tastings. Schoborg will be teaching guests how to make Cajun classics like gumbo, boudin and bread pudding.

The second is Sunday’s Dirty Linen event, which starts at 3 p.m. and is all about the booze. Another $25 ticket gets you to the bar, where Cajun Experience bartenders will be teaching the secrets behind classic New Orleans cocktails like the Sazerac and Hurricane. A flight of five Abita brews is also on the menu, as well as three examples from the restaurant’s bloody mary bar.

The one head-scratcher: A food-focused event on Saturday and alcohol on Sunday? I might have switched those days. A joint ticket to both events can be purchased for $40. Reserve a spot by calling the restaurant at 202-670-4416.
