It’s 2013 already in Australia. Where will you be when the ball drops in Washington D.C.? (AP Photo/Rob Griffith)

We’ve got just less than 12 hours until 2013 arrives. If you haven’t finalized your plans yet, there are still tickets available for a number of parties, including the Roots at the Fillmore. If you don’t feel like paying $75, you can catch Questlove DJing at Liv/Bohemian Caverns later; the $50 admission includes an open bar from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Of course, there some great events at bars that don’t require tickets or a cover charge: hip-hop DJs at 1920dc, all-night happy hour with bocce and two-for-one oysters at Black Jack, a menu of delicious dark beers at Smoke and Barrel and a glam old-Hollywood party at the Red Derby.

Just remember to work out your ride home in advance so you don’t wind up paying jacked-up Uber fares or waiting for hours for your SoberRide taxi. Doctor Gridlock has all the transportation news you need.

In the rush for New Year’s Eve, don’t forget about the all-important New Year’s Day brunch. Our list of delicious-sounding options ranges from drag brunch at Perry’s to the filling hair-of-the-dog meals (Kentucky hot brown!) at Bourbon. And if you want to watch the college bowl games, consider Crystal City Sports Pub (with over 100 TVs, they’ll have every game you want) and Meridian Pint.
