Dance like mad

The Phillips Collection continues its 90th birthday celebration with an all-day party filled with live ballerinas on Saturday. Starting at 10 a.m., free admission to the museum and the Degas exhibit “Dancers at the Barre: Point and Counterpoint” will be offered, in addition to a live exhibit featuring ballerinas from the Kirov Academy of Ballet. Crafts for children, gallery tours and live music will also be offered. The museum will extend its hours until 8 p.m. The Phillips Collection is located at 1600 21st St. NW. Family arts event

Teens can observe Veterans’ Day with a hands-on arts workshop Saturday at 1 p.m. at North Brentwood Community Center. Open to the whole family, the free event will explore elements of collage, drawing and painting, while learning about the role and legacy of black solders during World War II. Free days at the Corcoran

As part of FotoWeek DC, the Corcoran Gallery of Art is offering free admission Nov. 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In another event, professional photographers, curators and photo editors from organizations including the National Gallery of Art and National Geographic will provide 20-minute sessions to review individual photo portfolios at the National Gallery on Nov. 12 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and again from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets for the portfolio review session are $75 (student discounts available). Wearable art

The Art League brings art and clothing together in their new exhibit “What Art to Wear.” The clothing and jewelry on display combined elements such as clay, glass and paper. The exhibit opens Nov. 9, with an opening reception Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m., and will remain on view through Dec. 5. The Art League is located at 105 North Union St., Alexandria. High school choirs unite

Prominent high school choirs come together at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 9 as Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center hosts the 10th annual High School Choir Invitational. The event includes ensembles from Maryland, Virginia and the University of Maryland School of Music. The performance is free.
