Today we sent out our weekly Going Out Guide With the Kids e-mail newsletter, packed with ideas from the Going Out Gurus and great reads for parents from the rest of The Post. If you want to get in on the action, sign up here.

For a glimpse of the newsletter, we offer three of our top picks:

Elephant Parade (Tuesday) The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus is coming to town and they are doing things a little differently this year. They always have the elephants parade through downtown, but this time they are coming at night. The pachyderm parade is set to start at 8 p.m. at Virginia and New Jersey avenues SE. (Start time and route are subject to change depending on train schedules and traffic jams. Call the animal walk hotline 866-683-3244 or follow the walk on Twitter @DCElephantWalk. You can also view the map here.) The circus will be in town Thursday through March 18.

St. Paddy party (Friday and Saturday) Irish dancer Shannon Dunne leads a kid-friendly Discovery Theater celebration.

Pi Day (Wednesday) The Maryland Science Center celebrates the yummy dessert and the mathematic symbol with a day of pi- (and pie-) themed activities.
