Bobby Flay will open a new burger joint on K Street, NW. (Michael Piazza/MICHAEL PIAZZA)

The restaurant, Bobby’s Burger Palace, is expected to open Aug. 16 at 2121 K St. NW, reports Metrocurean. If you thought the Michelle Obama Special at Shake Shack was bad for you, the burgers at this restaurant can be “crunchified” — meaning topped with a mountain of potato chips. (Have you noticed how everything we eat lately — from oatmeal cream pies at Birch and Barley to these potato-chip sandwiches — is a direct reference to our childhood diets?)

As for the D.C. menu, which you can find posted here, let’s just say there aren’t any major revelations: There are several kinds of city-themed burgers (L.A., Sante Fe, Philadelphia), milkshakes (including spiked ones) and a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches. But maybe I’m bitter: I didn’t see a veggie burger anywhere.

If you can’t get enough of the red-headed celebu-chef, next month, Flay will actually drop into W ashington for a talk and Q&A at the Sixth and I Historic Synagogue. The visit is connected to the release of his Bar Americain cookbook. Tickets for the event go onsale Monday at 11 a.m. for $40 and include a copy of the book.
