Cooley will be sorely missed. But even though fans can’t see him play with the Redskins anymore, they can still appreciate his artwork at the Cooley Gallery, which he opened in December, 2010 in historic Leesburg. The gallery showcases his eclectic pottery; many pieces even have his number, 47, painted on the side. The gallery is open Thursday-Sunday, for those who want to pick up a little souvenir (for more to do in Leesburg, see our neighborhood guide).

And who knows, you might even get a chance to pay your respects in person. Leesburg’s First Friday is coming up next week, and Cooley has been known to hang out at the gallery, mingling and signing autographs.
