Fishing at Fletcher’s Cove

What dad wouldn’t enjoy a day-long fishing trip to Fletcher’s Cove? Grab some bait and line, and get to it at this prime fishing spot.

Manassas Wine and Jazz Festival

The seventh annual Manassas Wine and Jazz Festival brings 60 wines from 18 Virginia wineries together in the heart of Old Town Manassas for a day-long tasting and foot-tapping jazz music. Headlining this year’s festival is Marcus Johnson, plus big-voiced singer Adia Ledbetter and Project Natale.

Antique Car Show

Calling all dads with the need for speed: Make your way to Sully’s Annual Antique Car Show in Chantilly, which features more than 400 classic and antique 20th-century automobiles, a flea market selling arts and crafts and car accessories, food vendors and live music by Jumpin’ Jupiter and the New Old Time String Band. The festival promises one of the largest displays of Model A Fords in the area.

Boat Brunch

Dads who have their sea legs might enjoy gazing out over the Potomac while being wined and dined with an elegant three-course brunch. There are many cruises and companies in the area to choose from, but Odyssey Cruises is offering a 15 percent discount for bookings online and a complimentary drink ticket for all fathers on board.

BBQ and Cupcakes

Kick off Father’s Day weekend today! Westend Bistro Chef de Cuisine Joe Palma invites the food trucks Carnivore BBQ and the Cupcake Buggy to park at his weekly lunch pop-up for mini-barbecue festival to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.

For an indoors sort of day, try these scrumptious-sounding meals:

Beer and a Grill

Bastille in Alexandria serves up a summery prix-fixe four course beer dinner, featuring beignets of shrimp, corn and basil; grilled sea scallops with preserved orange-coriander vinaigrette and cumin infused eggplant puree; “barbecued” locally raised pork shoulder in a mole reduction with succotash of black eyed peas; and an almond shortbread tart with fresh cherries for dessert. It’s a perfect summer meal you can eat indoors!

Roof Terrace Restaurant’s Kitchen Brunch Buffet

Dine at the Kennedy Center’s Roof Terrace Restaurant, with a view overlooking the city. Father’s Day brunch this year has a barbecue theme, with dishes like beef brisket, prime rib and Carolina barbecued pork. The buffet also offers a seafood bar, omelets, and a plethora of dessert options.

Art and Soul

If you dine at Art and Soul on Father’s Day, you can enter for a chance to win a private cookout for yourself and 20 guests at your house by Art and Soul’s new executive chef, Wes Morton.
