Bacon. Not pictured: Beer. (James M. Thresher/FOR THE WASHINGTON POST)

If you’re unfamiliar with this annual pork and hops bacchanalia, hosted by National Harbor and sponsored by the Heavy Seas brewery, then gird your arteries. There are two sessions, from noon to 4 p.m. and again from 5 to 9 p.m., where you will sample more types of bacon than you knew existed -- duck bacon, bourbon-flavored bacon, juniper bacon, jalapeno bacon. And then there’s the beer, more than 10 Heavy Seas offerings, including the seasonal Winter Storm Category 5 Ale.

Tickets are $70. Is it worth it? That depends on how much you like having others prepare products you can fairly easily reproduce on your own. If you don’t feel like shelling out, I’d suggest 3 Bar and Grill, a place that knows a thing or two about bacon and beer.
