After a recent renovation, the Arlington venue’s seating is now both cushy, with oversized red recliners complete with footrests, and selectable. When buying tickets in person or online, moviegoers can pick their own reserved seats, which means there’s no longer a need to show up an hour before the previews to get a place next to your eight companions.

The Courthouse theater is one of the first AMC venues nationwide to test the concept, and feedback has been good so far, according to Ryan Noonan, the company’s director of public relations. Yelp and Twitter appear to concur:

Reclining seats? I don’t think I can see a movie any other way now. (@ AMC Courthouse Plaza 8 for Silver Linings P...)

After seeing a movie at the renovated AMC Courthouse movie theaters it will be hard to go anywhere else for the rest of my life. #recliners

The other bit of good news is that, despite diminished capacity to make room for the large new recliners, ticket prices haven’t changed, so far. It makes you wonder what’s next. Seats that automatically eject chatty filmgoers? A movie fan can dream.
