The Butcher’s Block — Connected to Robert Wiedmaier’s Brabo in Alexandria, this chef-driven market offers locally sourced meat and freshly baked bread along with handmade Belgian chocolates and beer.

Society Fair — From whole chickens, everyday cuts of beef and pork to antelope, boar and headcheese, Cathal Armstrong’s still young Alexandria market and butcher has you covered no matter how mundane or daring you want to be.

Stachowski Market & Deli — Tim Carman wrote an excellent profile on the perfectionist chef behind this new Georgetown market. Long a farmers market fixture, Jamie Stachowski’s sausages are now available for easy brick and mortar pick up.

Wagshalls — this venerable, family-owned delicatessen and butcher shop is one of the area’s premier destinations for kosher meats and fresh seafood, but you can also find specialty items like imported hams and wild game.

Westover Market — In addition to an excellent butcher shop focusing on local and organic meats, this neighborhood grocery in the Westover neighborhood of Arlington features one of the best beer selections in the entire Washington area. It’s a true barbecue sourcing double-threat.
