View Photo Gallery: More than any other First Family in recent memory, Barack and Michelle Obama have embraced the local restaurant scene. We’ve compiled a list of destinations where at least one of them has dined (though what they actually ate is often a state secret), along with commentary from Washington Post food critic Tom Sietsema. Click the bold text of each caption to see each restaurant’s full review.

In case you missed it, Adams Morgan was on lockdown Monday night as President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama dined at Mintwood Place. What the president’s party ate wasn’t disclosed, but chef Cedric Maupillier’s menu is a well-executed combination of traditional French cuisine (steak tartare; duck breast au poivre) with American accents (cast-iron “Amish” chicken; a bacon cheeseburger).

POTUS-spotting at restaurants around town has become a D.C.-area pastime since Obama’s 2009 inauguration. From chowing down at Ray’s Hell Burger with Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev to stopping in for sandwiches at Taylor Gourmet on 14th Street, the presidential palate has been busy. See more places the Obamas have eaten by checking out the gallery above.
