At 9th and U streets NW, the Brixton is a three-level British-style pub with a masculine hunting lodge vibe on the second floor and two bars on the expansive rooftop deck. (Check out our pre-opening photos.) It’s set to open at 11 a.m. Sunday with eight beers on draft, including Wells Bombardier and Bellhaven Twisted Thistle IPA, poured in either 20-ounch British pints ($8) or smaller 10-ounce half-pint glasses ($4). Fifteen beers are in bottles ($6-$10), and there’s a short cocktail list with a Pimm’s Cup ($10) and white wine spritzer ($9) as well as original drinks.
Meanwhile, up in Columbia Heights, the much smaller El Chucho is bringing tacos and margaritas to 11th Street today. (The exact time is up in the air, so called before heading over.) Run by the team behind Jackie’s and Sidebar, the focus is on non-traditional Mexican street food and delicious margaritas, both regular and frozen.
