Not even Sandy could cancel one of Washington’s favorite Halloween traditions. The High Heel Race on 17th Street NW traditionally takes place on the Tuesday before Halloween, but this week’s wind and rain meant it was delayed until tonight.

All the usual details apply: The race begins at 9 p.m. in front of JR’s, but the participants will be strutting their stuff up and down the middle of 17th Street beginning at 6. Arrive by 7:30 if you want a spot along the two-block “course,” and you’ll have the perfect view of the costumes and pageantry.
