The 1998 film is one of the scariest films you’ll ever see, and it inspired the less-terrifying 2002 American remake called “The Ring.” The plot points are essentially the same: Anyone who watches a scary film late at night receives a phone call telling them they will be dead within a week. But even if you’ve seen the Naomi Watts version, you owe it to yourself to see the darker, more psychologically complex Japanese original.

Admission to all films in the series is free, but you have to RSVP in advance, and those seats are going to go fast.
