With new album “Sweet Heart Sweet Light,” Spiritualized continues to create a mesmerizing brand of dreamy, droney rock-and-roll that hits on the themes of love, death, salvation, redemption. Get hypnotized at 9:30 Club.

Friday

One more time

Friday is one of the last opportunities to see “Song 1,” the video installation projected on the exterior of the Hirshhorn set to the tune of “I Only Have Eyes for You.” That evening the museum hosts a party with a different soundtrack — live music by No Age, Nicolas Jaar and more, a cash bar and extended gallery hours. “Song 1” closes on Sunday closes on Sunday, May 20.

Lanegan’s singular voice

The distinctively smog-voiced vocalist has spent much of the past decade collaborating with the likes of Isobel Campbell and Queens of the Stone Age. “Blues Funeral,” his first solo album since 2004, show he needs no accompaniment. He performs at 9:30 Club.

Friday-Saturday

Blue movies and burlesque

Burlesque dancers, sideshow performers and adults-only short films are all on the menu at DC Shorts’ “Popcorn and Pasties” party.
