The 2012 High Heel Race: ‘I wouldn’t miss this for anything’

Even a hurricane is powerless in the face of drag queens.

The annual High Heel Race down 17th Street NW, which always takes place on the Tuesday before Halloween, was postponed due to Hurricane Sandy. But dozens of racers — most elaborately costumed, all wearing heels of two inches or higher — and thousands of spectators came out last night to hold the event as usual. The Post’s JulieAnn McKellogg was there to capture the scene on video.
