On Jan. 19, Public Bar is kicking off a new monthly concert series called Public Rocks with an appearance by all-’90s cover band White Ford Bronco. On one Thursday a month, cover bands will set up on the sports bar’s mezzanine level, and people on the larger, main floor below can dance or keep watching the dozens of TVs, which will remain on but silent. The music starts around 10 p.m. and continues until 1 a.m. Admission is free before 9 p.m. and $5 afterward. Drink specials include $4 Starr Hill beers and $7 Ketel One Oranje cocktails.
Then, on Jan. 28, Eden is hosting its first all-retro party, Saved by the ‘90s, with DJs spinning “everything from Pearl Jam and Snoop Dogg to Sublime and Salt-n-Pepa.” Eden is trying to set itself apart from current ‘90s DJ nights — the occasional No Scrubs dance party that sells out the 9:30 Club, and the monthly Peach Pit party at DC9 — with its guest stars. Dennis Haskins, who played Mr. Belding on “Saved by the Bell,” is hosting the opening night, and February’s event features live performances by Sisqo and Dru Hill. Saved by the ‘90s will be on the last Saturday of the month, and the upscale lounge is dropping its dress code for the party: Doc Martens and flannel shirts are encouraged.
