To find this generously stuffed grilled arepa, there is only one place to go. Falls Church and its mainstay La Caraquena. Delicious morsels are lurking across the suburbs, and we want to know where. (James M. Thresher for The Washington Post)

Where were the mom-and-pops? The strip-mall gems?

Where were the ’burbs?

We all know the best pho in D.C. may well spill forth from Arlington’s Pho 75, and there are all sorts of delicacies to be had at Eden Center in Falls Church. The place to get pupusas is, naturally, Irene’s Pupusa’s III in Wheaton, while La Caraquena in Falls Church is the not-so-secret spot for arepas and peanut soup. Tiffin in Langley Park churns out dosas worth the drive; and the tacos al pastor from Taqueria La Placita are still among the best in the land, even as Washington finally develops a craving for anything stuffed in a corn tortilla.

We want to know: Where do you find the suburbs’ most compelling dishes, and what do your order?
