Tonight, though, you can soak up the sounds of the National Symphony Orchestra while chowing down on barbecue when the “NSO In Your Neighborhood” program performs at Acre 121 at 7 p.m. The “In Your Neighborhood” initiative is the orchestra’s effort to reach out to young professionals and audiences unfamiliar to the genre, and it’s coming to a variety of venues in Columbia Heights through Monday.

Busboys and Poets hosts musicians tonight at 7 p.m., too. And on Sunday, BloomBars hosts “Hip-Hop and Classical: A Collaboration” with a string quartet, hip-hop emcee Asheru and R&B vocalist Tamika Love Jones. In all, more than a dozen events are planned.
