U Street Music Hall’s sound system: extremely powerful. (Kyle Gustafson/For The Washington Post)

“U Street Music Hall in Washington, DC is a bass dungeon designed with sound as its top priority,” Beatport’s Travis Bernard wrote. “From the monthly Moombahton Massive events to the Deep Sessions Crew shows, everyone that’s played here has fallen in love with the system.”

If you haven’t sampled the two-and-a-half-year-old club’s sonic wares for yourself, Thursday’s AraabMuzik show (a Nightlife Agenda pick) would be a good time to do so.

In other U Street area music news, the 9:30 Club was awarded a 2012 Billboard Touring Award last week as the country’s top club based on attendance for the fourth year in a row.
