Come inauguration time, there’s always the matter of watching the Pennsylvania Avenue parade, and the Newseum, which fronts the avenue, will host visitors to watch the passing motorcade. The $100 admission price includes access the museum’s galleries and exhibitions and first-come, first-served space on the building’s interior landings, which face the street. The outdoor exhibition decks, however, will not be open to the public on Jan. 21.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Nov. 15. Balk at the $100 price if you will (children ages six and younger get in for free), but this event will sell out fast.

A quick glance shows the Texas State Society’s Black Tie and Boots ball at the Gaylord, and the Kentucky State Society’s Bluegrass Ball at the Wardman Park Marriott, on Jan 19 the Hawaii State Society’s Inaugural Ball is Jan. 20 at the Renaissance Hotel in Crystal City.
