Cabinet controversies — Until recently, it’s been unusual for a president’s Cabinet picks to face serious opposition. Our friends at the Fix, though, say there’s a “new normal” for nominees.

What’s in his wallet? — Jimmy Fallon’s latest material is pretty obscure — he cracked a joke last night about reports that President Obama might name AmEx chief Ken Chenault to a Cabinet post: “It will be annoying when Obama presents his choice to the Senate, and they are like, ‘Sorry, we don’t take American Express.”

Reading list — Sen. John McCain’s got your last-minute gift dilemma solved, tweeting about his picks for books to read yourself — or give your friends and family (he apparently digs the thriller “Gone Girl” as well as the classic “For Whom the Bell Tolls.”).

Gallery-hopping — Now seems like a good time to visit the NRA’s museum, right?
