Vice President Biden will host a hangout on Google Thursday. Fresh from Monday’s inauguration festivities, Biden will bring the administration’s proposals to reduce gun violence to the Web at 1:45 p.m. Eastern.

The hangout caught our eye not only because it is a sign of Biden mining his online popularity — fueled in part by his embrace of his Onion-engineered caricature — but that it is a fulfillment of PolicyMic co-founders Christopher Altchek and Jake Horowitz’s call just this past weekend for the Obama administration to be more involved in connecting with millennials in new ways online. The authors specifically called for more Google hangouts with administration officials to explain ”what the administration is doing,” writing:

An innovative communications strategy will empower our generation to participate in the looming battles over entitlements, immigration, and education, instead of sitting on the sidelines.

Let us know if you’ll be joining the vice president on the Google Hangout and your thoughts on this particular form of outreach on the part of the administration.
