Zoo releases new photos of panda cub

The National Zoo released new photos of its panda cub Thursday, just in case anyone on the Internet was interested in seeing a tiny panda described by the zoo as “wiggly and squirmy.”

The zoo also released an update on the panda’s growth and health following a veterinary examination earlier Thursday. The cub now weighs in at just over 3 pounds, having gained more than a pound since her last exam 10 days earlier (this has been your Panda Cub Weight Update). The cub’s heart and lungs seem healthy, according to the zoo.

Zoo officials have said that it would take about four months before the cub makes her public debut, so the official photos (and the video released last week) are the best, clearest glimpses of the panda’s development.

The zoo also released multiple new photos of the cub’s examination on its Flickr page.
