Much of the news in recent days has been on the Republican side of the contest, as questions persist over whether Bartlett plans to run for reelection. But Democrats already have their own competitive primary underway, and on Thursday, Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown lined up behind Garagiola.

“I’m very excited to endorse my colleague and fellow veteran Rob Garagiola for Congress,” Brown said, adding that Garagiola “brings an incredibly high level of energy, preparation and common sense” to his job as senate majority leader.

Aside from Garagiola, former Montgomery County Council member Duchy Trachtenberg and financier John K. Delaney are also running for the Democratic nomination in the 6th, which has been redrawn into a highly competitive district.
