In Chicago, O’Malley is attending a two-day DGA policy conference on manufacturing and also raising money for the organization, which works to elect Democratic governors across the country, according to its spokeswoman, Elisabeth Smith.

O’Malley hosted a similar policy conference for DGA donors last month in Cambridge, Md. That one focused on energy policy.

The gathering in Chicago is being hosted by Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn (D) and also features the Democratic governors of Arkansas, North Carolina and Minnesota. The governors will meet with executives from manufacturing companies and labor leaders to discuss job creation, Smith said.

On July 15, O’Malley is to headline a fundraising dinner for the Utah Democratic Party. Aides said O’Malley planned to be in Utah anyway for a National Governors Association meeting.

O’Malley’s speech at Utah’s Democratic Jubilee is expected to echo those from similar appearances in recent months in Kentucky, New Jersey and Virginia, where he has sought to contrast the way Democratic and Republican governors govern.
