Central High School became the flyest school in Prince George’s on Tuesday after hip-hop artist Wale performed there at a surprise appearance.
The whole spectacle made this Insider feel particularly uncool: I didn’t really know who Wale was. My Twitter peeps helped me out. They describe the District-born rapper as a “kinda hipster, a “socially aware” guy who incorporates the local go-go sound into his music. They also referred me to a video, “Chillin,” that features Georgia Avenue, Cardozo High School, Ben’s Chili Bowl and Lady Gaga.
Wale, whose new album, “Ambition,” dropped Tuesday, held a free concert for the school’s top students to encourage them to be ambitious. My colleague, Jillian S. Sowah, was there to report the event.
