Becoming ‘Miss UDC’ is no cakewalk

Later this month, the students at the University of the District of Columbia will select who will succeed Joanna Preston as “Miss UDC.” As the following application shows, if you want to wear the crown this year, you best come correct.

Among the prerequisites: “Submit one page essay — Topic: ‘The Role of Miss University of the District of Columbia at an Urban Land Grant University.’ ” The application also requires a minimum 2.5 grade point average, two faculty or staff recommendations, and a “platform concerning contributions to the University of the District of Columbia and/or District of Columbia Community.”
