Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier today went on NBC’s “Today Show” to say “shame on” wireless phone companies that she accuses of being uninterested in combating petty thefts. If they would simply agree to shut down, or “brick,” stolen phones, the theft motive all but disappears, she says: “When you take the profit away, there’s no motivation to stick a gun in somebody’s face and take the phone.” (h/t Examiner)
