Bryce Harper out with a bone bruise

“He’s playable,” Rizzo said. “If it was Ryan Zimmerman, he would be playing. He would be playing if he was a big leaguer. But there’s no need for him to be playing uncomfortable.”

The Nationals have not placed Harper on the seven-day disabled list, which suggests the Nationals believe he’ll return in the next few days. Harper, 18, is hitting .322/.421/.569 in 67 games in his first professional season.

Adam Kilgore covers national sports for the Washington Post. Previously he served as the Post's Washington Nationals beat writer from 2010 to 2014.
