Nationals at Cubs rained out; will play Thursday instead

UPDATE 8:35 p.m.:

Monday night’s Nationals-Cubs game at Wrigley Field has been postponed due to rain. The game is scheduled to be made up Thursday at 2:20 p.m. EST.

Chien-Ming Wang of the Nationals and Matt Garza had been the scheduled starters for Monady night.

ORIGINAL POST, 7:48 p.m.:

(formerly the Game 115 discussion thread)

The weather has not improved at Wrigley Field, and the Nationals’ game against the Cubs will at least be delayed. The Cubs have yet announced a hopeful start time, and it doesn’t look great. Neither starting pitcher has so much as started to warm-up on the field. It could be a while. We’ll post any updates in this entry.

If there is baseball, the Nationals will try to win their second straight, and their first behind Chien-Ming Wang. In two starts Wang has yet to prove he can still be effective, but pitching Steve McCatty thinks Wang’s sinker, while diminished compared to his best days, can still get hitters out.

The Nationals will face Matt Garza, whom they tattooed for eight runs on July 7 at Nationals Park before blowing an eight-run lead in a crushing, 10-9 loss to the Cubs.

As always, talk about the game – if there is one – right here.
