Game 53 discussion thread: Nationals vs. Phillies

Funny scene in the Nationals clubhouse today: Ian Desmond brought his dog, Bailey, to the park. He was using to a tennis ball to play catch with today’s starter Livan Hernandez, and Bailey chased it back and forth. The ball at point bounced away and ended up on Henry Rodriguez’s lap. Rodriguez wound up to throw it, but Desmond said, “No, Baily, he throws too hard for you to catch it.”

As for the game today, the Nationals have to beat Roy Halladay at Nationals Park, something they have shown inclination of doing. In three starts here, Halladay has three earned runs in 25 innings, striking out 24 and walking four while allowing 14 hits. Needless to say, he’s won all three games.

Happy Memorial Day. Talk about the game right here.
