This morning Adam followed up his Sunday newspaper story about Ryan Zimmerman with a blog post that focused on this point: The longer the Nationals wait to address his contract situation, the larger risk they take.
Based on other contracts signed recently and constantly rising tide of player salaries, Zimmerman could command a contract worth roughly $200 million, according to estimates by several baseball sources.
As a free agent, though, assuming he remains healthy and on his current progression, Zimmerman could command a contract closer to $300 million in free agency than $200 million.

Whatever it costs he will be worth it. You need to start a franchise off some Icon. And Z is the face of Baseball in DC.
What do you think? Is Zimmerman worth $300 million? Is any player?
