Nationals-Mets lineups: Ian Desmond plays

Despite saying twice over the past two days that Ian Desmond would get Sunday off, Nationals Manager Davey Johnson has the shortstop in the lineup for the series finale against the New York Mets. Johnson has said he wanted to still squeeze some playing time for Steve Lombardozzi, who was pushed to the bench when Desmond returned from the disabled list on Friday. It’ll be interesting to hear Johnson's thoughts on this. Lomardozzi is 2 for 6 against the right-hander this season and Desmond is 0 for 3. Maybe Desmond made a convincing case to play.

Bryce Harper returns to the starting lineup after not starting on Saturday.
