Nationals’ Michael Morse reinstated, in tonight’s lineup

The Washington Nationals have reinstated outfielder Michael Morse from the disabled list and he is in tonight’s lineup, slated to bat cleanup. (Weather-permitting: A tornado watch is in effect for the Washington area through 9 p.m.)

Morse began the season on the DL with a strained lat and missed the team’s first 50 games.

Thursday night, Morse played in his third rehab game at Potomac, the first in which he played the field. He went 0 for 3 and received one test in the outfield, making a long throw in from right. Morse said he did not feel any effects from the strained lat he developed early in spring training and had rendered him unable to throw.

“I didn’t feel anything,” Morse said. “There’s nothing bothering me. The lat’s the last thing I’m thinking about. The only thing I’m thinking about is hitting. That’s when you know the injury’s good. I’m thinking totally about other things.”

Corey Brown has been optioned to AAA Syracuse.

More to come.
