The Nationals today officially recalled outfielder Roger Bernadina from AAA Syracuse.

Bernadina left Syracuse’s game Thursday night in the fifth inning without an injury, which was a likely sign the Nationals planned to bring him to Washington. The Nationals had said they planned to add him to the roster.

Bernadina is batting .247 with nine doubles, two triples, five home runs, 20 RBI, 16 stolen bases and 35 runs scored in 71 games this season with Washington.

The call-up comes after Laynce Nix left Thursday’s game with what he termed a right groin “tweak.” Nix expects to miss a couple of games.
