The Washington Nationals will host the Boston Red Sox in an exhibition game on April 3, according to a tweet from the Nationals.

Washington’s 2012 regular season opens April 5 on the road against the Chicago Cubs. The home opener is April 12 against the Cincinnati Reds.

Beginning next week, the added Red Sox game will be visible in all existing season ticket holder accounts and included as part of any new 2012 season ticket plan.

In other Nationals-related news, it appears that former Nationals’ manager Jim Riggleman will not be the New York Mets’ next bench coach. According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Bob Geren is the team’s choice and Riggleman received a phone call today from Manager Terry Collins informing him that the Mets are going in a different direction.
