Ryan Zimmerman’s charity event coming Thursday

The Nationals’ crazy few days has kept me from posting this, but I’ve been meaning to do it, because it’s for a good cause and deserves some publicity. On Thursday, Ryan Zimmerman will host his annual A Night At The Park fundraiser at Nationals Park to benefit his ziMS Foundation, which supports research to cure multiple sclerosis, a disease that has confined his mother, Cheryl, to a wheelchair for years.

When Zimmerman signed his most recent contract, he insisted on including a stipulation that he could use Nationals Park one night a year to host his event. It’ll be held this year on the Nationals off day once they arrive home from Anaheim. The performers this year are Rodney Atkins and David Blaine. More information, including how to purchase tickets and a full list of sponsors, can be found here.
