Saturday’s Nationals lineup: doubleheader Game 1

The first game of Saturday’s doubleheader won’t appear on television — but it will be played. True to his word, Manager Davey Johnson will stick with consistency and use almost the same lineup as Friday night, his first win as the Nationals’ skipper. Right-hander James McDonald (5-4, 4.52 ERA) starts for the Pirates.

The lineup could be the same in the second game, which is slated to start at 7:05 p.m., Johnson said. But he will check with Laynce Nix and Jayson Werth following the first game and decide whether or not to give them a rest Saturday night. With outfielder Rick Ankiel back from the disabled list and utility player Brian Bixler available, Johnson has options.

1. Roger Bernadina, CF

2. Jayson Werth, RF

3. Ryan Zimmerman, 3B

4. Laynce Nix, LF

5. Michael Morse, 1B

6. Danny Espinosa, 2B

7. Ivan Rodriguez, C

8. Ian Desmond, SS

9. Livan Hernandez, P
