For 25 years, American Girls have been defining youths’ personalities

From elsewhere in The Post: Samantha, Julie, Addy, Kaya, Kirsten, Josefina, Felicity, Rebecca, Kit. Many girls who grew up in the 80s and 90s identified with at least one of the American Girl dolls. The dolls and book series turned 25 this year, and a new store in Tysons Corner celebrates their history. Reporter Monica Hesse describes what the store is like, why American Girls have been such a hit and what’s so special about Molly, one of the more popular dolls.
