Kids solve the carpool problem

From today’s KidsPost: Second graders at a local elementary school have performed a miracle: They reduced time spent in their school’s carpool lane from as long as 15 minutes to a minute or less. The students at Concord Hill School in Chevy Chase came up with a strategy after entering the Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge, national science competition. They were tasked with solving an environmental problem at their school, and the students chose to reduce the amount of gas burned when parents waited in the school’s carpool lane.
