From elsewhere in The Post: Our Special Harbor, a free sprayground in Franconia, has water-table play areas, water-streaming cannons that kids can control and amenities for special-needs children, such as wheelchairs that can get wet.

For families that want to stay dry, there are options for them, too: “A shaded picnic pavilion next to the park is popular for birthday parties (no food is allowed inside the sprayground), and across a field there's the "treehouse," a walkway and covered deck built on the edge of a steep slope, where you look out into tree branches,” says reporter Anne Kenderdine.

Read Kenderdine’s review of the park in the Going Out Guide, and let us know how your family likes to cool off in the heat.
