Value Added: An education in shaved ice

From Capital Business: When LaShawne and Robert Holland couldn’t afford to send their sons to Landon School in Bethesda, their kids started a business to help foot the bill. Adam, 15, and Jonathan, 14, are chief executive and chief operating officer of AJ’s Hawaiian Iceez. AJ’s sells flavored, shaved ice at county fairs and art festivals in the D.C. and Baltimore areas. The four-year-old business expects to gross about $50,000 this year.
