When teens shut out a parent, it’s time to talk

From elsewhere in The Post: The parent of two teens is being shut out of her children’s life and receives dirty looks when she asks how they spent their day.

“This is the first time in eight years that neither of my children is going to an overnight camp, so they’re both at home the whole summer. I really had hoped to enjoy this time with them, but they have no time for me,” reads a letter to Family Almanac columnist Marguerite Kelly.

Kelly advises this parent to honestly tell the kids why their behavior is hurtful, and encourage them to do volunteer work to learn about humility.
