White House chief of staff steps down: Chief of Staff William Daley resigned Monday, a year after taking the job, and will be replaced by Budget Director Jacob Lew next month. The move shakes up White House management as the president readies for his reelection campaign.

Romney takes heat for ‘firing’ remark: Speaking at a breakfast forum of the Nashua Chamber of Commerce, the GOP frontrunner said, “I like being able to fire people who provide services to me.” The remark immediately provided campaign fodder to Romney’s opponents a day before the New Hampshire primary, and Democrats have begun circulating video of the remarks.
