In the race to publish books about Osama bin Laden, Random House has taken the lead with news it will release “Beyond Bin Laden: America and the Future of Terror” as an ebook on Monday.

The $1.99 ebook features essays from Karen Hughes, Bing West, Richard Haas and Andrew Exum. Also contributing an essay is the book’s editor, Jon Meacham. The ex-Newsweek editor and best-selling author became executive editor at Random House in October.

Also this week, Penguin acquired Steve Coll’s next book, a follow-up to his 2004 book “Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA, Afghanistan, and bin Laden, from the Soviet Invasion to September 10, 2000,” according to Publishers Weekly.

Peter Bergen, CNN’s national security analyst, has also signed a deal to write about the search for bin Laden. It will be called “The Manhunt.”
